Plumbing repair in Las Vegas, fixture by fixture

Plumbing repair in Las Vegas mostly means the parts you see and use every day: a faucet that drips, a toilet that runs all night, a drain that empties slowly, a disposal that hums but will not turn. We are an insured local crew, and every job starts with a written flat quote.

Hard water is behind a lot of it. Las Vegas water is very hard, and the minerals build up inside faucet cartridges, aerators, toilet fill valves and shower heads. Parts wear, stiffen or clog sooner than they would in softer water, so a drip is often a worn or scaled cartridge rather than a failed faucet.

Shut-off valves, toilets and disposals

Shut-off valves under sinks and behind toilets (often called angle stops) are a common weak point. Many sit untouched for years, and when someone finally turns one, it will not close or starts to drip at the stem. Replacing a stuck valve while the water is already off for a faucet or toilet job is usually the sensible time to do it.

A running toilet is usually a worn flapper or a fill valve crusted with scale, and both are straightforward to replace. A toilet that rocks or leaks at the base needs to come up for a new wax ring or seal, and a cracked tank usually means a new toilet. If you are replacing it anyway, a comfort-height or water-saving model is an easy upgrade.

Garbage disposals fail in a few predictable ways: jammed by something hard, shut off by their overload reset, or leaking from the body, which usually means replacement. Slow drains in bathroom sinks and tubs are usually hair and soap at the stopper, cleared without harsh chemicals.

What affects a plumbing repair quote

Parts are the first variable: a replacement cartridge is a small part next to a new faucet, and some brands only take their own parts. Access is the second. A vanity crowded with storage bins or a disposal under a tight sink takes longer than an open cabinet, and corroded fittings sometimes need to be cut out rather than unthreaded.

Grouping helps. A dripping tub spout, a running toilet and a stuck angle stop in the same house cost less to fix together than as three separate calls. Photos of each fixture, the brand name if you can find it, and the valves underneath are usually enough for a written flat quote.

Moving a drain or adding a new fixture is a different job from repairing one, and it can need a permit from Clark County or your city. We tell you up front when a job does. Floors are covered before anything is disconnected, and the work area is cleaned before we leave.

Plumbing repair questions.

Why do faucets and shower heads crust up so fast in Las Vegas?

The water supply here is very hard, meaning it carries a lot of dissolved calcium and magnesium. When water evaporates at the spout or sits inside a cartridge, those minerals are left behind as white scale. Soaking aerators and shower heads in vinegar helps, but scale inside a cartridge usually means replacing the cartridge rather than the whole faucet.

Is it worth replacing a toilet instead of repairing it?

If the bowl and tank are intact, a new fill valve, flapper or wax ring is almost always the cheaper fix. Replacement makes sense when the porcelain is cracked, parts for an older model are hard to find, or you want a taller seat or a lower-flow model. We can quote both from photos so you can compare before deciding.

What should be done first when a pipe under the sink starts leaking?

Turn off the shut-off valve under that sink, or the main house valve if the small one will not budge, then put a towel or pan under the leak. Take photos of the fittings and any water damage to the cabinet floor. That is usually enough for a quote, and it also shows whether the cabinet base needs repair once the leak is fixed.
